My journey to creating Gurum Pillow wasn’t about launching “just another” sleep brand. It started with a problem I couldn’t ignore.
While working long hours at a tech company in South Korea, I was constantly dealing with neck pain and restless nights. I tried pillow after pillow, memory foam, gel, you name it, and nothing stuck. Some felt too stiff, others went flat fast, and a few even seemed to aggravate my allergies. I kept thinking: why is it so hard to find a pillow that actually helps?
So I went looking for answers. I spoke with doctors, dug into sleep ergonomics, and learned something important: good sleep isn’t one-size-fits-all, but proper support and alignment are non-negotiable.
Then, on a business trip, I had a turning point. I slept on a latex pillow at a hotel, and it felt completely different. Supportive without feeling hard. Comfortable without collapsing. It held its shape and kept my head and neck in a better position all night. For the first time in a long time, I woke up feeling… normal.
What We Make and Why It Matters

I started experimenting, testing materials, shapes, and heights; gathering feedback from friends and family; refining every detail. The goal wasn’t to make a “nice pillow.” It was to build something that solves real sleep problems. That’s how Gurum Pillow was born.
